For fifty years and counting, Kent Raible has been enchanted by ancient gold and silversmithing techniques. What began as youthful fascination in 1971 has matured into technical mastery through his life-long pursuit of flawlessly incorporating gold granulation into his work. Whether fused onto the architectural surfaces of structurally complex, one-of-a-kind compositions or applied as accents on limited run collections, granulation presents the satisfaction of infinite design possibilities and inspires him to push the technique to its limits.

The James Renwick Alliance acquired Kent Raible's "Floating City" in 1996 for the permanent collection at the Renwick Gallery, National Museum of American Art.
"Kent’s pieces are the quintessence of sumptuous jewelry. Using gold, precious and semi precious stones, he brings to mind a fantasy world of sultans, sheiks and palatial surroundings. Kent’s work is glorious in that it has a fantastical quality.
It alludes to a time of opulence, when intensive labor was an end in itself. There’s a sumptuous, sparkling, magnificence to his work.”
